Encaustic Painting

This piece was done with wax, oil pastels and an iron. It is very similar to the first, but instead of focusing on layering it is more about finding textures and brushstrokes. The wax is very different to work with, and at sometimes very difficult. It dried extremely fast but it was very forgivable at the same time. After i got the hang of working with the wax I really enjoyed it. I loved the the way this turned out.

  1. this is really awesome! I love the layout of this because its different than everyone else's. The elephant looks great. I love how its not too detailed and not brought out by any lines. it's like a ghost image which made it turn out great. nice job, Deborah!

  3. This elephant turned out really well. I love how you used different hues of the same color to add interest, and the way you actually painted the elephant is really impressive. Also, adding the side pieces just made it even better. For only your second project you are really getting the hang of it. Great job!
