I chose the eggs in a towel prompt for my second summer piece. It was done with pencil and charcoal on an 8x11 piece of drawing paper. I tried to show the roughness of the towel, but I'm not sure that I like the way I approached it.

Encaustic Painting

This piece was done with wax, oil pastels and an iron. It is very similar to the first, but instead of focusing on layering it is more about finding textures and brushstrokes. The wax is very different to work with, and at sometimes very difficult. It dried extremely fast but it was very forgivable at the same time. After i got the hang of working with the wax I really enjoyed it. I loved the the way this turned out.

Encaustic Collage

This was my very first piece of art work in Art IV Honors. It was done with wax, acrylic paint, and various objects that I brought together to create my theme of time. The hardest part of this, for me, was showing noticeable layers. It took me a while to figure out a method. I added an image transfer of a clock and attached real clock hands to it.In the end I was very happy with the way my layering turned out. I feel like this is one of the best pieces i have done so far. I love the fact that encaustic isn't something we have all done a million times before.
